Jonathan Sandbach is Chief Economist at Heathrow Airport. Jonathan joined Heathrow in 2010, from Vodafone Group where he worked as Head of Regulatory Economics, and before this held a similar role for Cable & Wireless Group, where he also served for a period as Regulatory Vice President for the company’s Japanese business unit, covering the Asia region. Other experience includes 8 years in economic consultancy for NERA (National Economic Research Associates) where he worked for a number of telecoms, energy and water companies and regulators. This included leading the first comparative efficiency study used by Ofcom (then Oftel) in the regulation of BT. He has a BA (1st Class) in Mathematics/Economics from the University of York, an MSc (with distinction) in Statistics from the London School of Economics, and a PhD from City University London.
